Five months ago I was in a car accident. While in recovery, I completed Physical Therapy twice a week and have now been prescribed Acupuncture. I have always been very interested in Acupuncture and the natural health care behind it. The history and practice dates back over 5000 years. It has become more universally accepted and is now being utilized in more hospitals, wellness centers and pain management centers. I have been to two sessions now and am on top of the world!
Several thousand years ago the Chinese physicians discovered that Chi, the vital force, circulates throughout the body. Chi is also referred to as the life force, and the total absence of Chi is death, whereas good health obviously depends on a clear balanced Chi.
Any blockage or disturbance of a good balanced flow of Chi can develop pain, a weakened immune system, or illness. You want a clear flow. Imagine it like a river, you don’t want to create patches of dams or floods, ideally you want a clear stream of water running.
There is a list of conditions that Acupuncture can treat. The main objectives of the treatment are to relieve pain and other symptoms, strengthen the immune system, as well as balance, harmonize, and integrate functions of the organs with each other, making for a unified healthy person.
Some people may be in fear of pain of the needles or even be concerned if the needles are sterile and safe. Typically acupuncture needles are fine and flexible, no bigger than a human hair or a piece of thread. They are not like most medical needles which are stiff, thick and hollow for forcing liquid into the blood stream. Just like any other treatment center, the government requires acupuncturists to follow very strict sterilization procedures.
You don’t have to be referred or have to be physically injured to go to an Acupuncturist. I personally advise everyone to be open to the thought of Acupuncture and absolutely recommend giving treatment a try!
A Raw Food/Vegan lifestyle with the practice Exercise and treatment of Acupuncture is a great way to create optimum health!!
